In his old age, Isaac is tricked into blessing Jacob, his second son. Still, Esau, the first son and legitimate heir, had sold his birthright to Jacob. Christians can be a strange mixture of these two boys, sometimes neglecting our birthright through sin and manipulating distrust, while at other times clinging to the promise of forgiveness and salvation in God's Christ.
